If you are looking to visit Hawaii on points then booking a Hyatt hotel is a great choice. Hyatt doesn’t have as many hotels in Hawaii as Marriott but they have some really great options! One thing I really love about Hyatt is when you book your stay on points you won’t have to pay any resort fees. Those pesky resort fees really add up so this is a great perk.

 

How to Get Hyatt Points

Before you book your Hyatt hotel in Hawaii, you’ll need to get some points. One of the reasons I love Hyatt so much is that there are a variety of ways to get Hyatt points. The most obvious way to get Hyatt points is to open the World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Another way to earn Hyatt points is with Chase Ultimate Rewards credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Business Preferred. Chase Ultimate Rewards can be transferred into your Hyatt account at a 1:1 ratio. Hyatt has a lower award chart with rooms starting at 3,5000 points a night and going up to 45,000 points a night (although there aren’t that many that high). The fact that you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt at such a reasonable rate makes it much easier to get enough points to book a great stay at one of the Hyatt hotels in Hawaii.

Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach

The Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach is a steal at just 12,000 points a night when visiting during standard pricing. Come during off-peak and pay just 9,000 points a night. As a category 3 hotel, you could use the anniversary free night certificate that comes with the World of Hyatt card at this hotel (valid at hotels category 1-4). The hotel is located near Kuhio Beach Park (within Waikiki Beach), Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, and International Market.

 

Category 4 Hotel

Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach

The Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is another option for redeeming your free night certificate. When visiting during standard pricing you can expect to pay 15,000 points a night. The hotel is located within walking distance of Waikiki Beach, restaurants, and shopping.

 

Category 5 Hotel

Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa

The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa is just steps from Waikiki Beach. Each room has its own private lanai. Enjoy the pool, which looks over the ocean, and the onsite spa.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa

As a category 7, The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa will cost you 30,000 points a night when you visit during standard pricing. The resort has a fantastic location, right on Ka’anapali Beach. I haven’t stayed here but I know many who have and love it! If you have some extra points you can look into upgrading to a room that comes with Club Access (subject to availability). Club Access allows you entrance to a lounge where you can find continental breakfast and snacks throughout the day. This is a great choice for families as the resort has a kids club (this isn’t free) and a great pool area for the kids.

Hyatt Residence Club Maui, Ka’anapali Beach

Coming in at a category 7, the Hyatt Residence Club Maui, will cost you 30,000 points a night when you visit during standard pricing. This resort is part of Hyatt’s timeshare program. It is located right next to the Hyatt Regency and you can use all the amenities there and make charges to your room. As a timeshare location, you can expect to find a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and a separate living area with a sofa sleeper. We stayed here in 2021 and we loved it!

 

Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort

Another category 7 property, the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, is a beachfront resort located in Wailea with direct access to Mokapu Beach. Enjoy one of the four cascading infinity pools, onsite restaurants, and the spa. This resort has been known to be tough to find availability so keep that in mind when looking to book. You may need to be flexible.

 

 

Hyatt Hotel on Kauai

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is the only Hyatt hotel on Kauai. It is located on the south shore of Poipu. You will pay 30,000 points a night during standard pricing. I have stayed at this resort and it is beautiful! It is one of the nicest resorts on the island.  I would come back here in a heartbeat! The property has many pools, lush gardens, a sandy lagoon, tennis courts, great onsite dining, and more. It is a great place to bring the kids as well. The beach right there isn’t suitable for swimming but you can walk 1/2 mile to Brennecke’s Beach along the beach path. There is also Poipu Beach close by, which I really enjoy.

 

Bottom Line

There aren’t a ton of Hyatt hotels in Hawaii but there are some really really great options! Hyatt points are easy to earn when you consider that you can earn them from your Chase Ultimate Rewards cards as well as your World of Hyatt card. What is fantastic about choosing to use your points to stay at a Hyatt hotel in Hawaii is that you won’t have to pay any resort fees. I have loved staying at Hyatt hotels and highly recommend Hyatt as your choice when visiting Hawaii.
