Our newest reader success story comes from Tara who is a recent convert to points/miles. We love that she has already signed up for a couple of credit cards and sees the value of getting more cards. That’s the way to increase your points – keep those signups coming! We try to always have a card we are meeting the minimum spend on. Here’s Tara’s story about using points for a trip to New York using Southwest Rapid Rewards.
I started my travel points and miles adventure last year. 2019 was the year of weddings for my family. My wedding was in August and my sister’s wedding was in October. Needless to say, weddings and honeymoons are expensive! my now-husband and I love to travel together. We decided about two years ago we wanted to share in experiences rather than tangible gifts for holidays/birthdays.
For my birthday we were able to go to Buffalo, New York to see Niagara Falls and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House Complex. This cost us 20,000 points for both of us. Southwest’s Companion Pass is amazing! Plus, I was able to use my saved up points from our Bank of America Travel Rewards Card to pay for our $150 car rental. Now, I just need Airbnb to create a rewards program!. As a bonus, we were able to use the companion pass to save on our flights to my sister’s wedding. We also used the leftover Southwest Rapid Rewards to fly to a friend’s wedding in Orlando.
