One City, Four Hotels on Points

Pam

I recently completed a fantastic trip to Sydney, Australia. I thoroughly enjoyed it but can you believe that I stayed in one city, four hotels on points? Call me crazy, but I like to hotel hop, check out different brands, and use different points. My husband wasn’t too sure about this, but he agreed it was fun too.  Here’s where we stayed on our one city, four hotels on points tour:

Park Hyatt Sydney

We started with the grand dame, the Park Hyatt Sydney. This hotel was in the most iconic location, and I knew I would love it. I was right. We used 35K Hyatt points a night to stay here, and the cash price was over $1000. We also got free breakfasts worth about $100/day for two people.

You can use points from these credit cards to book a stay here:

Four Seasons Sydney

We stayed two nights at the Four Seasons Sydney. I used a Fine Hotel Resorts (FHR) credit of $200 to stay here. Our room was MUCH smaller, but the fine service at the Four Seasons brand is unparalleled, and we really enjoyed this stay also. For two dinners, 2 breakfasts, and our stay, we only paid about $160 after all the credits!

This card lets me do this deal:

Hyatt Regency

This stay came about because of a change in vacation plans. Luckily, I have points and miles and don’t have to pay cash when things change! I used a Hyatt annual night certificate and a Hyatt Brand Explorer award to book this room. On top of that, I got breakfast for two both mornings. This was all for a $95 annual fee. The hotel books for $475/night, which is a great value!

We loved the room, and the standard room would also be great for family stays. It is only $200/night, but that is still a 50% savings with the free certificate!

I was able to book this room with the certificate from this card:

Kimpton Margot Sydney

Lastly, we flew from Queenstown back to Sydney to catch our ANA return flight to LAX. I wanted to get there the night before and have one more beach day, so we stayed at the Kimpton Margot Sydney. The hotel was beautiful, and the food at Luke’s Bar was fantastic!

We used 42K IHG points to book our stay, and on check-in, we were updated to a Deluxe King room and given complimentary breakfasts because of our hotel status.  This room would’ve cost almost $300 in cash.

Bottom Line

There are multiple options to use credit card points for your hotel stay in Sydney. I did one city, and four hotels on points, but I am sure not many people will want to do that. However, whatever points you hold, you will find a hotel to use them at in Sydney. We would have had to pay almost $4500 for these hotels and breakfasts.  We paid nothing but the extra $160 at the Four Season. Do you have a favorite hotel in Sydney?

Hi! I just listened to your blog. Sounds like an amazing trip and I love you stayed in and reviewed so many great hotels! My question is – how do you find a Four Seasons for $309 a night?? I would love to build a trip around a reasonable Four Seasons stay, but every time I look, there rooms are significantly more than that! Thanks!
