Disney and Walt Disney World on Points and mIles

Hey! I’m loving your content on Instagram and recently joined the Facebook group. I wanted to share our redemption stories.

A tiny bit of backstory, we love Disney! While my daughter was in middle school, I set the goal to have annual passes during her senior year of high school for senior pics, celebrations, and an epic graduation trip. I used free money apps like ShopKicks, Swagbucks, and IBotta over the course of 2 years and bought 3 Annual Passes (for myself, my daughter, and my son).

We had another, non-annual pass trip to Walt Disney World planned in 2019.  I canceled that due to illness and rolled those funds into paying for resort reservations for trips in May 2021 and August 2021. I signed up for a Chase Southwest Credit Card. We used the bonus to fly four of us to Walt Disney World in May 2021 where we activated our annual passes and were unexpectedly upgraded from Pop Century (a value resort) to the Grand Floridian (a deluxe resort).

We also visited again in August 2021, stayed at the Pop Century Resort (covered by previous trip funds), and are going again in December of 2021 using the last of our Southwest Rapid Reward points for free flights. Our hotel stay (Coronado Springs, moderate resort) will be covered by Capital One Venture miles.

I recently got the Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card. I hope to use those points to transfer to Southwest Airlines for one last round of free flights in March 2021 before our annual passes expire in May. Our resort stay will be paid for by credit card, as I will be paying for that to help meet my minimum spend on the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

I’ll attach a few pics of our May and August trips. Thanks again for the great content and motivation to help us keep planning bigger and better trips!
