Friday Family Vacation to Moab

During the summer, so many of our readers with families love to explore the outdoors. After I visited Sedona, I have been itching to go to Moab. Alex loved a past visit there with her little ones, so let’s make this a Friday Family Vacation to Moab, Utah.

Salt Lake City International Airport is the closest international airport to Moab, Utah. It is 238 miles from Moab, so you will probably want to fly into SLC and rent a car. There are a ton of different airlines that fly into SLC. It is a Delta hub, so let’s fly Delta today from Los Angeles.

At 13K/person roundtrip, we can get one credit card and make this flight happen. You can get a co-branded Delta card or a card that earns American Express Membership Rewards and transfer them to Delta. If you are a Delta cardholder, you’ll receive an additional 15% off Delta award flights!

Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, and Hilton all have hotels near Moab, so you have plenty of choices.  Since the Hyatt Place is a steal at 20,000 Hyatt points/night, I would stay there. The only Hyatt hotel in Moab is Hyatt Place Moab.  A stay here will include two queen-sized beds, a sofa bed, and free breakfast. They have a great pool, hot tub, splash pad, and a little playground. It also has a great location—just 4 miles from the park entrance!

With just one credit card sign-up bonus, you could pay for a three-night stay which is plenty of time to enjoy Moab and Arches National Park.

Bottom Line

After opening two credit cards, it is possible for a family to visit Moab and create lasting memories. Our Friday Family Vacation to Moab proves, once again, that by opening credit cards and meeting minimum spending on normal, everyday expenses, you, too, can afford to travel.
