Friday Family Vacation to Costa Rica

Pam

Costa Rica is a beautiful destination for a family vacation. There are plenty of activities to enjoy and locations to visit that will make for a fun and memorable experience. Jess went there on a family vacation and her daughter, Molly, still talks about it! Friday Family Vacation to Costa Rica is happening today—let’s recreate one of Molly’s favorite trips!

Molly can’t wait to return to the Andaz Papagayo!

Getting There

American Airlines is a great way to fly to Costa Rica from the Dallas area.  These flights have a connection in Miami.

Even better, we can fly United (like Jess usually does) on a non-stop flight. If you have a United card, you will see Saver Awards which make it cheaper.

Here are some credit cards that could make these flights happen for your family (you could also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to United if you prefer):

Lodging

Molly would 100% say that she wants to return to the Andaz Papagayo, so that is our plan. It is a Hyatt hotel and is only 21K points/night (off-peak). If Jess and her husband (Ted) each get one of the Ink Business Cash cards (our favorite business card), they will have a total of 162K points after meeting the minimum spend. Jess will also get a referral bonus of 40K points by referring Ted for an Ink card. That’s a grand total of 202K Ultimate Rewards points—more than enough for a week-long stay at Molly’s favorite resort when she transfers them to Hyatt. Keep in mind you’ll need to first move these points to a Chase Sapphire Preferred, Reserve, or Ink Business Preferred prior to transferring to Hyatt.

Hotel room

Andaz also has free snacks in each room which they replenish daily.

This is the card I would get for this trip. You could also get Chase personal credit cards or World of Hyatt credit cards.

 Bottom Line

Friday Family Vacation to Costa Rica may seem like a dream destination for many families, and one they don’t think they can afford. Think again…Costa Rica on points and miles is possible!

Does the no fee United card also give access to saver awards for business class flights? Thank you!

We can’t wait to travel to Costa Rica. We love to find children’s books to read before the trip – and here are some of the great kids books I’ve found to get them excited about traveling to Costa Rica: http://storybooklists.com/country/storybooks-with-costa-rica/
