What’s in your wallet? If it’s the Capital One Venture X Card, you just got more airport lounge access. You all know that I am the queen of hitting up a nice lounge to elevate my flying experiences, so the fact that Capital One adds more airport lounge access is welcome news. However, I have the best airport lounge credit card, The American Express Platinum Card, so I’m covered. For those of you not wanting to pay a high annual fee though, this is great news.

Previously, the Capital One Venture X Card offered airport lounge access to their own lounges (of which there is only one with 2 more to follow). It also comes with Priority Pass Lounge Membership which offers a ton of options. But Capital One just announced that you can use the Capital One Venture X Card to access Plaza Premium Lounges of which there are over 100 all over the world and five in the United States. Let’s look at some lounges that you might want to visit.

 

Cancun

The MERA Business Lounge in Cancun is a Plaza Premium Lounge so after our recent visit to the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, my husband and I had a quick lunch there before our flight. It isn’t a huge lounge but is a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the busy Cancun terminal. This is located in Terminal 3. Alex was also able to use this card for her family at a Priority Pass lounge in Terminal 4.

 

 

London Airport

I go to London a couple of times a year. I am usually sitting in business class seats so I can go to the United Lounge there. However, one time I was going to Istanbul from there and used the Plaza Premium Lounge there and it was really good. It has actually been voted “The World’s Best Independent Lounge” a number of times.

 

 

Dallas

There are five Plaza Premium lounges in the United States and the one in Dallas looks gorgeous. It is the only lounge Plaza Premium Lounge in the United States that is not a Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse.

 

 

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses

These are the lounges that offer some of the finest experiences that a traveler can enjoy. They offer trendy decor and a la carte dining,  There are presently four in the United States and one is coming soon to Boston. The four currently available are in the following cities:

• New York City (JFK)
• Newark (EWR)
• Washington, D.C.-Dulles (IAD)
• San Francisco (SFO)

 

 

Bottom Line

Is Capital One Venture X trying to compete with the AMEX Platinum card for airport lounge access? I think so.  Capital One adds more airport lounge access and adds another great benefit to an already great card!
