IHG Hotels & Resorts has just announced the launch of their new global loyalty program, IHG One Rewards. Earlier this year IHG Hotels & Resorts announced a new tier and bonus earning structure. With those changes, they added a new Gold Elite tier, renamed Spire Elite to Diamond Elite, and increased bonus points across all levels (except for Diamond Elite which stays at 100%). Now, IHG Hotels & Resorts have announced even more changes with their new IHG One Rewards Program!

New Benefits

Below you can see the benefits for each tier with the new IHG One Rewards program.  I’m really excited about the new Rewards Night Discounts for Platinum and Diamond Elite. IHG Hotels & Resorts actually already did one of these discounts. The discount was 20% off reward nights if you booked by April 5th for stays up until May 25th, 2022. I’m looking forward to the next time they offer a Reward Night Discount!

Another great new benefit is the Welcome Amenity at Check-In. If you are Diamond Elite you now have the choice of free breakfast! The other benefit I really like is the late check-out at 2 pm. I love when I don’t have to rush out of the hotel early in the day!

How to Get Platinum Elite Status

Platinum Elite is the second-highest tier and comes with some really nice benefits. The good news is getting Platinum Elite status is actually really easy. All you need to do is hold the IHG Rewards Premier credit card or the IHG Business Rewards Premier card. We love these cards because when you book 3 nights on points, you’ll get the 4th night for free! New Milestone Rewards

Starting in June, IHG Hotels & Resorts is launching Milestone Rewards. Starting at 20 qualified nights you’ll get to choose a reward every 10 nights that you stay. You can see that you can choose from the following: Bonus Points, $20 Food and Beverage Rewards, Confirmable Suite Upgrades, and Annual Lounge Membership. What’s really nice about this is you get to choose the reward that works best for you and your travel style. You’ll be able to track and select your Milestone Rewards right on the new IHG One Rewards app that will be available soon. I’m really excited about the Confirmable Suite Upgrade Reward which you can use on stays for up to five nights!

Bottom Line

Sometimes when we hear that a rewards program is changing it means bad news for us as the consumer. In this case, I am really happy to see that these are all positive changes! IHG One Rewards is a real upgrade from the old IHG Rewards. The new benefits like breakfast for Diamond Elites, Reward Night Discounts, late check-out for all tiers, and the addition of Milestone Rewards are really exciting!
