Using Citi ThankYou Points for Choice Hotels

Pam

Using Citi ThankYou Points to stay at Choice Hotels used to be a very underrated option in my opinion. In fact, before writing this post, I hadn’t even considered it. Firstly, Choice Hotels are not my favorite brand as they are more economy type and I like to use my points on luxury stays. (A little spoiled, right?) They do make for a great family stay though because most offer free breakfasts. What’s more the Citi Premier Credit Card has a great 80K welcome offer right now and these Citi ThankYou Points transfer to Choice Hotels 1:2. Which means your 80k offer is worth 160K points with Choice Hotels!

Even better, there are some really nice Choice Hotel options, particularly in Europe. The Ascend brand looks particularly nice. Okay, you now have my attention! Let’s check out how using Citi ThankYou Points for Choice Hotels can even work for a hotel snob like me! The only drawback is that you can only book a Choice Hotel 100 days out so make your plans with that guideline.

Venice, Italy

Our friend, Jess, is staying in Venice at this hotel. It costs 25K/night so her 2-night stay will only cost her 25,000 ThankYou Points! I can’t wait to hear about her stay!

New York City

I found several Ascend hotels in New York City and nearby Brooklyn. I am absolutely going to try one out the next time I visit the Big Apple! Here are a couple that interest me! I love that I would only be using 15K Citi ThankYou Points per night to stay at one of these – such value!

San Clemente, California

As a youngster, our family spent many a summer in San Diego or San Clemente, California. I have the best memories there. Naturally, the Volare in San Clemente is an interesting option for me. A family of four can stay here for only 15K Citi ThankYou Points a night. That one Citi Premier welcome offer could get your family an amazing 5-night stay!

Clearwater Beach, Florida

The white sand beaches of Clearwater, Florida have always been some of my favorites. Again, being able to stay for only 15K Citi ThankYou Points at Winter The Dolphin’s Beach Club, Ascend Hotel Collection, would be a great redemption.

Naussau, Bahamas

The thing that makes using Citi ThankYou Points to book a Choice Hotel amazing for this hotel is that you get free access to the Atlantis AQUAVENTURE next door. Additionally, this hotel goes for a measly 10,000 Choice Points a night or only 5,000 Citi ThankYou Points. This is a CRAZY hack to use the Atlantis facilities and pay a fraction of the cost of staying there! Those families that are looking for a Caribbean vacation should stay here at the Comfort Suites Paradise Hotel!

Paris, France

The Quality Suites Maisons-Laffitte Paris Ouest for a mere 8,000K Citi ThankYou Points a night is another great option for Europe travel. It has really good reviews for it.

I think this room is pretty cute!

Rohnert Park, California

I know that this town is super cute as I lived near there for many years. To those who have dreams of checking out the fabled Sonoma Wine Country, the Cambria Hotel Sonoma Wine Country would be a great option. At only 12,500 Citi ThankYou Points a night, it is a great deal!

This sleek and modern lobby looks so inviting!

Bottom Line

Okay, I am convinced that I should try using Citi ThankYou Points for Choice Hotels. Not only are they an incredible deal, but there are also some hotels that look really nice. What Choice Hotels do you recommend?

P.S. The Citi Premier 80K offer has been around for a while – don’t miss out on it! Here are some other uses of Citi Premier ThankYou Points:
