New York City is home to some of the most famous landmarks in the world, such as the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Whether you want to see one of these landmarks, catch a sports game, see a Broadway show, or enjoy the diverse food in the city, families will have a great time enjoying the Big Apple. It’s time for Friday Family Vacation to NYC!
Flights to New York City are usually pretty reasonable because so many cities fly directly there, and there are many different options to use miles. Let’s check out Delta from LAX-JFK. You can get Delta miles from one of the American Express Delta cards or transfer from an American Express card that earns Membership Rewards. Anytime that you can be flexible with dates and look at a 30-day calendar, you will be able save on miles/points.
In this instance, if we can fly for cheaper dates, we can pay as little as 23.5K roundtrip per person. Here are the cards I could use for this flight.
I am a huge fan of the Hyatt Centric brand (remember my stay at one in Japan?), so I would love to stay at the one in NYC. It is conveniently located in Times Square, which has good access to many places in New York and subway access to everything further.
If you have a business or side gig, you could book 4 nights here after meeting the minimum spend on just one of these cards. Otherwise, you could book it for 3 nights with the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.
New York City has a plethora of chain hotels, so you could pick other Hyatt hotels, a Marriott hotel, IHG brand, or a Hilton to stay at with your points. Honestly, it is one of the EASIEST places to find lodging. Read about a past NYC itinerary that we did.
Hopefully, our Friday Family Vacation to NYC post shows you how easy it is to use points/miles for a family trip to one of the most popular cities in the world. It is a city that never sleeps and is always filled with energy and excitement – made even more exciting by visiting it on points and miles!
